In 1906 William J. Riley a 33 year old English immigrant in Massachusetts USA took his first steps in trainer history. Working in the field of prescription footwear made with special arch supports which provided the wearer with 'new balance', the company name came into being.
During the 1960's New Balances reputation grew for producing innovative performance footwear.
Their continued commitment to high quality manufacture resulted in the opening of a factory in Cumbria England where the best of the New Balance shoe archive is still being handmade today
